Why should I talk to my advisor?

About Advising

Stanford offers a range of academic advising options through Undergraduate Advising and Research (UAR). Take advantage of Stanford advising because good advising is the key to getting the most out of your Stanford experience.

Types of UAR Advisors

Academic Advising Director

Your UAR Academic Advising Director (AAD) can help you navigate University policies and procedures, understand requirements and prerequisites, or help you determine whether a potential class, research opportunity, or major is a good fit for you and your interests. Your AAD has a deep understanding of the university’s offerings. Your AAD can help you find things you do not even know you are looking for, and can answer questions you didn't know you needed to ask.

Athletic Advisor

Your UAR AARC advisor can help you coordinate your responsibilities as an athlete and a scholar, and can connect you with accessible resources and support. Your AARC advisor can also help you navigate University policies and procedures, find opportunities, and make decisions that are a good fit for you and your goals. Your AARC advisor is not just a Stanford expert, but an eligibility expert as well.
