Student Volunteer Opportunities

Orientation Coordinators (OCs) are the core student staff that support Approaching Stanford and New Student Orientation. The OC Application has closed. Please check back next year for the application at octeam.stanford.edu.

For 2020, the CC process has closed. NSO Community Coordinators (CC) help community centers and offices plan community events for NSO. NSO Communities include: Asian American New Student Orientation Committee, Black Recruitment and Orientation Committee, Chicanx/Latinx Orientation Committee, First-Gen and/or Low-Income Orientation Committee, International Student Orientation Committee, Markaz Orientation Committee, Native American Orientation Committee, Queer Student Resources, Religious Life Orientation Committee, and Women's Community Center. CCs must be enrolled students for the 2020-21 academic year and will need to return to campus for NSO 2020. Early Arrival Housing and Dining will be provided to students with on-campus housing for the 2020-21 academic year. CC Application Deadlines: Friday April 24.

For 2020, the speaker selection process will not take place. The 130th Opening Convocation Ceremony will be held on TBD. The selected student speaker will represent the student body in welcoming to Stanford the members of the Class of 2024, new transfer students, and their families. The speaker must be an enrolled student for the 2020-21 academic year and will need to return to campus for NSO 2020. Early Arrival Housing and Dining will be provided if the speaker has on-campus housing for the 2020-21 academic year. The Speaker application and selection process has been postponed to the summer.

The 2020 Faces process has closed. Faces of Community will be held on TBD. Speakers and performers must be enrolled students for the 2020-21 academic year and will need to return to campus for NSO 2020. Early Arrival Housing and Dining will be provided to students with on-campus housing for the 2020-21 academic year. Speaker/Performer Application Deadline: May 15, 2020.

The 2020 BSE process has closed. Beyond Sex Ed: Consent and Sexuality at Stanford will be held on TBD. Students enroll in Storycraft: Sexuality, Intimacy & Relationships (TAPS 21T) and craft their stories with faculty guidance and peer support during the spring. Selected students then share those stories with new students during NSO. Speakers must be enrolled students for the 2020-21 academic year and will need to return to campus for NSO 2020. Early Arrival Housing and Dining will be provided to students with on-campus housing for the 2020-21 academic year.

For 2020, we will have OVs during NSO. Orientation Volunteers (OVs) are the most important part of the NSO team and support NSO staff in carrying out all the programs and events through the week of NSO. OVs must be enrolled students for the 2020-21 academic year and will need to return to campus for NSO 2020. Early Arrival Housing and Dining will be provided to students with on-campus housing for the 2020-21 academic year. OV sign-up form and Head OV application will open in Spring Quarter.

For 2020, we will not have Move-In Day Volunteers. Join us on TND, for Move-In Day and help our students move into their new homes! If you're not able to be an OV for the week of NSO, but want to be part of the magic of Move-In Day, come help out as a Move-In Day Volunteer and welcome new students and their families to Stanford. Sign-up form will be available in the summer. (Early Arrival Housing and Dining not provided. Move-In Day Volunteers are typically already on campus and sponsored by another program such as ResEd, Arts Intensive, SoCo, etc.)
