Move-In Day Volunteers

Move-in day volunteers.

The information below is for current Stanford students, staff, faculty, and alumni who are interested in helping out on Move-In Day in September. New students and families can learn about Move-In Day by visiting the page Moving to the Farm.

The New Student Orientation Team invites Stanford staff, faculty, alumni, and upperclass students to participate in one of the most exciting and memorable days of the year: Move-In Day for first-year and transfer students! Move-In Day is Wednesday, September 16, 2020. There are two ways to offer your support on Move-In Day: Move-In Volunteer or Check-In Table Volunteer. You may only register for one volunteer position!

  1. Move-In Volunteers

Who's eligible: upperclass students, faculty, staff, and alumni

Move-In Volunteers will help unload cars, lift and carry suitcases and boxes, meet new students and families, and enjoy the energy that comes with the first day of New Student Orientation. It all begins with a Kickoff Breakfast for volunteers at 7:00am in Wilbur Dining Hall. Volunteers will sign in, get a welcome team t-shirt, and head out to the residences to work from 7:45am until 11:00am (or 12:00 noon if you'd like to stay longer). The time goes by quickly and it's extremely fun! Register by Monday, September 7.

Note: If you are already a part of the 2020 NSO Team – OV, CC, Faces, Beyond Sex Ed, etc. – you do not need to register as a volunteer because you will already be helping with move-in as part of your NSO commitment.

  2. Check-In Table Volunteers

    Who's eligible: Faculty and staff

If you would like to participate on this special day but you cannot commit to the physical work of a Move-In Volunteer, sign up to be a Check-In Table Volunteer! You'll work with Student Housing staff to distribute room keys and SUID cards to new students at the check-in tables for each residence. New volunteers are required to attend a 30-minute training before September 16; returning volunteers will receive a "refresher" PowerPoint training guide via email. For questions, please contact Terry D. Smith, Senior Front Desk Supervisor, at 650-725-8288 or Register by Tuesday, September 1.
