Frequently Asked Questions
Parents and guardians often have many questions as you prepare to send your student to Stanford. Please review our frequently asked questions (FAQs) about paying the University Bill, packing and moving to Stanford, Cardinal Care Health Insurance, and more. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact us!
Installment Payment Plan- Students may opt to enroll in this planby August 1 (updated deadline) if they wish to spread payment of large University fees (tuition, room and board, etc.) over three monthly installments per quarter. Students can enroll in Axess.
*August 13 update: Due to current health conditions, we will not be able to invite first-year and new transfers to campus for the autumn quarter, as we had hoped. We will continue to offer on-campus housing for students approved to be in residence due to a special circumstance and who continue to wish to be on campus, despite the plan for mostly remote instruction. If public health conditions allow, we plan to invite frosh and new transfer students to campus for the winter quarter.
We know that beginning the Stanford journey marks an important and exciting transition in your student’s life and in your life as well. We are planning a virtual NSO program to welcome parents and family members to Stanford, including a virtual Convocation and various virtual community welcomes and Q&A sessions.
For students approved to live on campus in the fall due to special circumstances: Because we will need to take extra precautions this year to protect everyone’s safety, parents and families will not be able to enter the residences or dining facilities during move-in. This was a difficult decision as we know that moving onto campus for the first time is a very special moment for students and families. If you will be driving your student to campus, families will be allowed at vehicle drop-off sites near student residences. But then, we ask that families plan on departing campus right away. Exceptions will be made for students with registered accommodations. We encourage you to ask your student to call you once they've checked in to give you a virtual tour of their room and residence.
