Welcome, Stanford parents and guardians. We are excited to welcome you to the Stanford family!
Approaching Stanford Newsletters for parents/guardians will be sent monthly during the summer, beginning in June for first-year students and July for transfer students. These emails will contain helpful information about preparing for Stanford.
The Newsletters will be sent only to the parent/guardian contacts listed by students on their Approaching Stanford Forms. If your student enters your contact information on their Approaching Stanford Forms, you will receive the monthly parent/guardian e-Newsletters this summer.
To be added to our parent/guardian database after the Approaching Stanford Forms deadline (June 5 for frosh; June 26 for transfers), please ask your student to send an email request with your name and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org, or once the academic year begins, to email@example.com. The request must come from your student.
Approaching Stanford e-Newsletters for Students
Students began receiving weekly Approaching Stanford Newsletters beginning May 8 to their Stanford email account. You are welcome to read these student Newsletters which are all available in our Approaching Sanford Newsletter archive online.
Frequently Asked Questions
Parents and guardians often have many questions as you prepare to send your student to Stanford. Please review our frequently asked questions (FAQs) about paying the University Bill, packing and moving to Stanford, Cardinal Care Health Insurance, and more. If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact us!
Installment Payment Plan- Students may opt to enroll in this planby August 1 (updated deadline) if they wish to spread payment of large University fees (tuition, room and board, etc.) over three monthly installments per quarter. Students can enroll in Axess.
Move-in Day and Virtual New Student Orientation 2020
Stanford has announced that we will be welcoming new first-year and transfer students to campus this fall. We are still determining the dates and details for Move-In and New Student Orientation (NSO) and we hope to share them as soon as possible.
We know that beginning the Stanford journey marks an important and exciting transition in your student’s life and in your life as well. We are planning a virtual NSO program to welcome parents and family members to Stanford, including a virtual Convocation and various virtual community welcomes and Q&A sessions.
July 22 update: Because we will need to take extra precautions this year to protect everyone’s safety, parents and families will not be able to enter the residences or dining facilities during move-in. This was a difficult decision as we know that moving onto campus for the first time is a very special moment for students and families. If you will be driving your student to campus, families will be allowed at vehicle drop-off sites near student residences. But then, we ask that families plan on departing campus right away. Exceptions will be made for students with registered accommodations. We encourage you to ask your student to call you once they've checked in to give you a virtual tour of their room and residence.
During the academic year, please refer to the Stanford Families website for important information and updates about events and resources, including Stanford Family Weekend, Commencement, the Stanford Parents' Club, and more.
