Justin Tackett received his PhD in English from Stanford University. He specializes in British and American literature of the long nineteenth century with a focus on science, media, and culture; interdisciplinary and transnational studies; poetry and poetics; sound studies; early film; digital humanities; gender and sexuality; medical humanities; archive, book, and periodical studies. His work has included studies of Thomas Hardy, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Emily Dickinson, John Clare, Stephen Crane, and Charles Williams. His current project is "Listening Between the Lines: Poetry and Sound Technology, 1816-1914," which addresses the poetry of Alfred Tennyson, Robert Browning, Walt Whitman, Edgar Allan Poe, John Keats, Sarah Josepha Hale, Anna Laetitia Barbauld, Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., and Paul Laurence Dunbar.
