About

Lourdes V. Andrade is the Associate Director of the Leland Scholars Program (LSP). LSP is a Residential Program within the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) that supports students who may be the first in their family to attend college and/or come from under-resources schools or communities. LSP begins for students in the summer prior to the freshman year by offering a four week residential experience. A cohort of approximately 60 students live on campus, take a problem solving course in Chemistry and a writing-intensive course for credit. Students then take a seminar class in Autumn and Winter quarter. LSP then provides support throughout the Stanford undergraduate career.
 
Prior to joining LSP in September 2015, Lourdes served as the Director of Academic Policy & Academic Support in Undergraduate Advising & Research (UAR) in the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE). She served as the primary liaison to University departments and offices for issues associated with academic policy and degree progress. Lourdes used her knowledge of university structure, curriculum, policies, and academic, extra-curricular programs/opportunities, and support resources to provide academic advising to the undergraduate student population. She served as one of the first-point advisors to students who may be experiencing academic and/or personal difficulty and also worked with staff and faculty who offered support to these students. Lourdes collaborated with several campus partners to assist and guide students to appropriate resources and develop individualized plans of action. 
 
 Lourdes holds a Master of Arts in Education from SFSU and has over 15 years of experience in education. She started her career in education as a bilingual elementary school teacher in San Diego. Lourdes has also worked with graduate students and adult learners at UC Irvine and De Anza Community College. Lourdes came to Stanford in 2001 where she worked at the Stanford Teacher Education Program (STEP) as an advisor to teacher candidates. Lourdes and her husband and son live on campus and serve as Resident Fellows for Trancos in Wilbur Hall.
