Lupita Ruiz-Jones is a teaching and research fellow. She teaches critical thinking in the sciences to freshman in the Thinking Matters program. She received her B.S. in Environmental Studies from Chaminade University of Honolulu in 2009 and Ph.D. in Marine Biology from Stanford University in 2016. Her current research is based in Hawai'i where she is leading a collaboration with the lab of Dr. Ruth Gates. The study is focused on investigating coral genetic diversity across an environmental mosaic. When she is not teaching or doing science, Lupita thoroughly enjoys traveling, culture, art, and being in nature.
