About Winnie

Winne Huang

Winnie Huang (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Chemical Engineering. She was part of the LSP 7 cohort in 2018. Currently, Winnie is a member of the Mai Research Group, with her Honors Thesis focusing on the structural characterization of calcium-responsive proteins. The project’s end goal is developing muscle-mimetic materials from polypeptides. Winnie is also involved with the Hmong Student Union, Asian American Activities Center (A3C), Hume Center for Writing and Speaking, and Quantum Physics for Kids. She seeks to facilitate the multicultural/multi-dimensional education of her peers and the development of increasingly diverse, complex workplaces and global environment. She aims to attend a Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering PhD program after graduation. Eventually Winnie wants to be a professor and leader of her own research group in order to tackle environmental crises and mentor underprivileged students who are hesitant about pursuing a career in STEM fields due to stigmatization. In her free time, Winnie enjoys crocheting, playing video games, and solving puzzles.
