Supermassive Black Holes and Accretion Disks

Main content start

With the support of a UAR Major Grant, Adam was able to delve into his passion for black holes and astrophysics. He studied accretion disks, which are disks of matter that fall onto black holes by specifically studying the bright, supermassive black holes that power the core of nearby galaxies. Adam attributes much of his insights to the mentorship and friendship of his advisor, Professor Robert Wagoner. He now continues his physics studies – and some of his other hobbies like hiking, running, and photography – across the bay, where he is completing a PhD at UC Berkeley.
