Florence Academics

Academic Objective

The Florence program strives to turn students into academic travelers. Unlike passing tourists, Stanford students will leave the city with a mastery of one of the cultures at the core of the historical and artistic development of the Western world, and a deep fluency in Italy, the European Union, and the Mediterranean today.

"As someone who has never taken an Art History class before, I truly enjoyed this class. I enrolled because the class consisted of exploring Florence, but I learned so much and am now able to identify different art styles and Architecture of various time periods. I have acquired an artistic voice and the ability to interpret artwork."
