Stanford undergraduates who studied on a BOSP program during Summer 2018-19, Autumn, Winter and Spring 2019-20 are eligible to submit entries to the 2019-20 BOSP Photo Contest. BOSP staff will review photo submissions and select a winner and honorable mention for each of the categories below.
Learning abroad extends far beyond the classroom. What did learning abroad look like for you? Share photos of your academic pursuits both inside and outside of the classroom. Examples: A fascinating lecture with your Faculty-in-Residence at a local museum; a study session at your overseas center; conducting field research of diverse ecosystems; scenes from your internship abroad; engaged-learning opportunities with a local NGO.
We want to see where you studied from your unique point of view. Show us which parts of the urban and natural world captured your attention and inspired you during your time abroad. Examples: Ancient ruins; urban spaces; a captivating sunset; majestic mountain ranges.
Stepping out of our own cultural context encourages us to engage with difference, question our own assumptions and reflect on our own identity and background. What experiences did you have abroad that fueled this engagement and introspection? Examples: Meals with your homestay family; scenes from a walk through the local market; local holiday or festival celebrations.
Bing Trips, Will Fund Trips (Berlin), and Bing Dinners! Show us the photos you snapped while enjoying these unique opportunities with your Stanford community abroad. Examples: Making your own perfume; touring an ancient castle; visiting an animal sanctuary.
Photo? Favorite? How can I choose only two? This category may be the easiest or the most challenging. Share those photos that you just can't get out of your head, the ones that perfectly capture the experiences you still reflect on from your time abroad. Examples: Surprise us!

Every Stanford undergraduate should give serious consideration to studying overseas.
Regardless of the academic path you choose, you will be enriched by time spent in another country. Achieving cultural literacy and gaining substantive understanding of other perspectives in the world will deepen your awareness of yourself, your educational goals, and your own society. Nearly one-half of each graduating class studies abroad through one of Stanford's overseas programs.
