LSP Council Mission

LSP Council serves as an extension of the Leland Scholars Program. We work to foster inter- and intra-cohort communities that provide spaces for students to explore identity, establish a network, and achieve a sense of belonging.

Hey y’all! I’m a sophomore from Casa Grande, Arizona. I’m part of LSP IV, and I’m currently majoring in Environmental Systems Engineering with an urban environments focus. My interests include finding/petting dogs, tennis, and finding new songs on Spotify. I’m a student outreach coordinator in the DGEN Office and a member of the Axe Committee. I joined LSP Council because LSP has been a central part of my Stanford experience, and I’m excited about having a role in putting on programming and strengthening the sense of community between the cohorts!

Cohort IV Scholar
Hometown: El Paso, TX
Major: Human Biology

Hi guys! I’m Britainy Barnes (‘19, LSP IV). I am an undeclared Human Biology major (Bioethics concentration) and an MS&E minor. If you ask me if I’m premed I’ll make an awkward face accompanied with an very long “uhmmmmm, question mark question mark question mark.”

I was born and raised in El Paso, TX and coming to Stanford as a first generation student has been one of the best learning experiences. Fun fact- the Cardinal football team practiced at my high school for the 2016 Sun Bowl. As a member of the LSP Council, I hope to continue the LSP family family love strong and am open to hearing any ideas that y’all have for how we can better serve you!

As a member of LSP IV, I got the opportunity to meet others that came from similar backgrounds as mine. I also go to meet some of my now closest friends. In my free time I like to dance, and take long drives at night while listening to a bomb Spotify playlist. I am involved with Pacific Free Clinics as a medical interpreter, am the team leader for VILA, and have two jobs (the Lathrop Tech Desk and an assistant at the Alumni Center.) I also enjoy going to the gym and discovering new Netflix shows.

Major: Mechanical Engineering

I like long walks on the beaches at sunrise.. My name is Erik, which I've come to realize is short for “Adventure!” I'm from Phoenix, currently identifying as LSP Cohort V. If you don't catch me at the gym, I'm probably coaching gymnastics, stunting w Stanford cheer, supporting/appreciating the people around me, or showing someone my backflip. I’m utilizing LSP council to ensure that each and every LSPer has the fundamental and innate human right of free LSP swag.

Judith Santano

Judith Santano

Cohort IV Scholar
Hometown: Paramount, California
Major: Earth Systems - Biosphere

Interests: I love the Earth, animals, music, and people. I love making people feel loved and getting excited about things. My only goal in life is to make other people love the things I love  as much as I do.

Involved with on campus: Tour guiding! Stanford Sierra Camp! Stanford Axe Committee! And of course, LSP. (If you hadn’t guessed it, I kind of love Stanford.)

Why LSP Council? LSP is such a huge part of the reason I’ve found a home at Stanford and I hold it near and dear to my heart. I want to help keep the LSP love alive during the school year and help to make LSP an even stronger community. Stanford can be a hard place to be at sometimes, but the LSP family makes it a little easier.

Cohort V Scholar
Hometown: Perris, California
Major: Biology

Hello y’all! My name is Justin Lee Henson (LSP V), I’m from Perris, California and I’m an urban Native American (Diné and Cherokee)! I’m deciding to either major in Halloween studies or Biology, which ever one is is best for pre-med. I’m apart of SAIO (Stanford American Indian Org), AISES, and NIM (Natives in Medicine), but my real passion (other than LSP) is working all night long (w/o any sleep) while riding my skateboard into the sunset! I try to go the gym at least 5-6 times a week and watch Youtube videos while getting fit. I’m apart of LSP council because I want to make y’alls experience much more exciting, interesting, and welcoming! Eventually, I hope that we could get to the point of progress to where we have LSP sponsored drones without a care in the world!
