Student Resources

The Hume Center for Writing and Speaking offers several different types of tutoring opportunities to support the writing and speaking students do in their classes at Stanford. You can see an appointment-based writing tutor, digital media tutor, or oral communication tutor (OCT), or you can meet with a drop-in peer tutor.
This resource page through the Hume Center links to a number of resources useful to writers related to topics such as citation practices, grammar and punctuation, writing a grant proposal, and library research methodology.
This resource page from the Hume Center includes useful handouts designed to help both the novice and more experienced public speaker.
Read through the archive of library research guides created for previous PWR classes as well as other Stanford classes, containing quick search resources for a variety of topics.
Learn about publications where you can submit your writing from your PWR class and reach a wider audience.
The PWR Undergraduate Advisory Board (PWR UAB) meets 2-3 times a quarter to consult with the PWR directors about how to continue to improve the Program, from the required courses, to advanced elective courses in writing and speaking, and the Notation in Science Communication.
