September Calendar 2019

August 29 By 2 pm SCAs are checked into program housing. Training activities will begin.

August 29-Sept 1  SCA Training all day.

September 2 (Labor Day) Noon-5pm students arrive to campus.  Expect an email in late August with information on the specific check-in location.

 All seminars arrive to campus at this time EXCEPT Learning Theater:  From Audience to Critic at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; and In the Age of the Anthropocene: Coupled Human-Natural Systems of Southeast Alaska.Students in these seminars should have received information directly from their faculty and SCAs about when and where to arrive to the seminar. (Students in Natural History, Marine Biology and Research come to campus and travel to Monterey by charter bus after dinner.)

EVENING Mandatory Dorm Meeting, location and time TBA.


September 3 first day of class, time to be determined by faculty. 

EVENING Opening Dinner: Check with faculty for time and location.


September 4 Faculty Panel: When I Was a Sophomore. Faculty share what they were doing during their sophomore year and how they arrived at their intellectual and professional passions. If your faculty is speaking attendance is required, but generally, this event is a highlight and all students are welcome. Faculty will sign up to speak at either 4:30PM or 7:30PM, dorm lounge to be announced.


September 13 Get Your Move On. Pick up your autumn room key by 5pm and move out of program housing into academic year housing between 5PM and 8PM. 

 

September 18 Sophomore College Symposium 4:30PM to 6:00PM Munger Residence Rehnquist Courtyard. The Symposium is a seminar-based poster session to celebrate students’ SoCo experiences and share the learning that occurred across all seminars. Dinner will be served. Set up at 4:00PM. 

 

September 20 Last day of SoCo (although some travel seminars extend into the weekend).
