In early October 2015 former vice president Al Gore came to speak at the KNOW TOMORROW Stanford: Rally for Climate Action in White Plaza. After his speech a tightly packed crowd swarmed around him, everyone vying for a video or a "selfie" with the famous politician.

The highlight of Dr. Rob Dunbar's introsem ESS38N "The Worst Journey in the World: The Science, Literature, and History of Polar Exploration" is a weekend in the Sierra Mountains in which we got to live what we had been reading about in literature - dog sledding and constructing and then sleeping in our own snow shelters. This is an action shot of the energetic dog sledding team in action.

This photo was taken in February on the southern end of the Lost Coast as part of a backpacking trip through Stanford Outdoor Education. On the last night, the sun emerged below the clouds and sunk into the sea and for half an hour after it set, the entire coast was bathed in a fiery light.
